Team SNO: Oh No! :-(

Tag: Emailsadmin @ 12:12 pm

Team Sno had a couple of unfortunate accidents this weekend.  First, on Friday, our veteran J4/5 racer, Michael Griffin, fell and broke his clavical.  Then on Sunday, Dante, one of our J4/5 coaches, broke his leg during ski team training.

Michael set a goal of making derbies this year and obtained that goal.  Unfortunately, he will not be able to attend.  He worked hard all season to reach this goal.  I know that he has to be extremely disappointed.  Michael was one of our seasoned competitors and only male qualifier for the 4/5’s derbies.  Dante, also worked hard this season, preparing our J4/5’s for competition.  He made sure that every racer was there to give it there best and had a true interest in making sure every racer had the oppurtunity to obtain their goals.  He was looking forward to being one of Sno Mtn’s coaches at the derbies.  After being a racer at many past derbies, this was going to be his first as a coach.

This weekend I will have get well cards for both and ask that all team members sign them.  I see Team Sno as a family, not a bunch of racers and parents that happen to use the same mtn every weekend to train.  Let’s get together and support our team members, Michael and Dante.  I would also like our 4/5 members, especially our derby qualifiers. to write a personal note to both Michael and Dante,  I think this would mean alot to them.  I am also asking Rolf to get a couple of cards for our 1/2’s to sign as they will be away racing at Elk this weekend.

Finally, I would like to set up a collection for Dante.  Many of you may not be aware of this, but last year Dante decided to switch careers.  He left his job as a proffesional Chef and returned to school to pursue a career as a physical therapist.  He depended on his income as a coach to help him through the winter.  His injury will prevent him from working well beyond the season.  I will have a ‘collection box’ for him this weekend.  It will be kept at the ski school desk.  I ask that the Team Sno family give what they can.

In advance I would like to thank the entire Team Sno family for their support of both Michael and Dante.  It is because we are a ‘family’ that we are the best team in the state!
